Hardware

Hardware development encompasses a multitude of sub-areas: Analog and digital circuit technology, microprocessor technology, sensor technology, power electronics, high-frequency technology, antenna technology, or energy-saving and battery-operated circuits – we have extensive know-how in all of these areas.

Our many years of experience and many completed projects from different sectors such as industry, the consumer sector, healthcare or control, and measurement technology guarantee reliable product development.

Good solutions are not complicated, they are simple and robust. We always look at the assembly to be developed from different perspectives and recognize problems before they occur.

The typical process in hardware design is usually always similar and is divided into the following individual steps:
The most important phase in the development process is the creation of the concept: Only when the requirements and goals are clearly formulated (specification sheet) can the concept be drawn up as to how the later product can be realized (specification sheet).

Errors or misunderstandings that occur in the early phase of development can only be cleared up with a great deal of time, money and displeasure. A central point is to find all the necessary legal norms or industry-specific guidelines, plan for them and select the appropriate technologies in order to achieve the right balance between effort and costs.
We develop our circuit diagrams using the latest CAD systems and can access a large number of self-created component libraries.

We also have many standard blocks for recurring circuit parts, which help us to develop circuit diagrams quickly. Of course, we also take into account the requirements for maintaining CE conformity.

We already take measures in the circuit diagram to minimize the interference effects or interference radiation from the circuit board or to protect the circuit board from electromagnetic discharge (ESD).
Particularly critical circuit parts, such as the switching behavior of a power transistor or the power consumption for a battery-operated device, are simulated during the circuit diagram development.

This gives us the opportunity to identify weaknesses in the design at an early stage and to eliminate them before the prototype is built.
When the circuit diagram is ready, the component parts list (BOM) can be created. We only select components that have a long-term availability in order to reduce follow-up costs.

With the basis of the circuit diagram and the BOM, an exact cost estimate of the series price can now be calculated. The estimate includes the material costs, the manufacturing price and the assembly of the equipment.

Together with you, we will optimize the circuit diagram until the costs are within your budget!
We will clarify with you the external dimensions of the circuit board as well as the placement of the connectors, buttons, LEDs, displays, mounting holes, etc. We will only start routing the conductor tracks once you or your design team have agreed with the placement.

The board is designed in such a way that it complies with the EMC directive. We also take care of the correct routing of conductors for high-frequency signals to ensure error-free function.
Once all the previous steps have been completed and approved, the construction of the prototype begins.

We order the raw circuit board and the component components from our suppliers and assemble the circuit board in our in-house electronics laboratory.
For this purpose, the driver components are developed within the firmware in order to check the functionality of the boards. This ensures that no errors have occurred in the soldering process and that the prototypes function perfectly so that the subsequent firmware development can be carried out without restriction.

In addition, in this step it can already be found out whether the concept created at the beginning is viable or whether extensions have to be made to the board.

Embedded Systems
Embedded systems work independently and in secret!
Toma develops the software in your products. In addition to mechanics and electronics, integrated software (embedded software) is an essential part of intelligent products. Our experts support the entire development process - from analysis to software development to tests.

By using current standards and targeted quality management, we guarantee that your products are designed to be safe and durable.

Many people are not yet familiar with the term embedded systems, but they are part of almost all electronic devices! An "embedded system" is part of a much larger system that usually takes on an essential function for the operation of the larger device or machine part. Embedded systems can be found in almost all areas of modern life. For example, washing machines, clocks, cars and internal components of the IT infrastructure use embedded systems.

Since embedded systems usually only have one function, they can work with very little power consumption and, compared to other components, can be accommodated in the smallest of spaces. In addition, they are very low-maintenance and rarely require hardware or software changes!

If software development is not one of your core competencies, we will be happy to support you in realizing your project idea. We have extensive knowledge in the area of embedded system programming!

Are you looking for a competent and reliable service provider for your development project?
Toma supports you in the development of embedded systems - also in connection with IoT concepts.
We provide cross-platform application development. Whether you are starting a new project or need help with an existing one we are here to help provide the best possible solutions for your product.

Internet of Things (IoT)

Consulting and conception of a solution for the use of IoT
Implementation and configuration of the IoT solution
Product enhancement through IoT
Product addition through IoT
Development of individual IoT solutions
Building a digital platform or an ecosystem

The Internet of Things is an essential part of digitization and Industry 4.0!
The “Internet of Things” refers to the networking of numerous physical objects with one another and with the Internet, whereby actionable insights can be gained and made available depending on business goals.

The IoT enables machines, tools and systems to be linked with one another. Individual processes and entire process chains are automated through the communication and coordination of the individual components with one another. This is particularly true in manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. In addition, virtual human-machine interfaces can be created. In this way, devices and their environment can be monitored and controlled from anywhere in the world via the Internet.

For the efficient development of complex and secure IoT solutions, we rely on open source solutions and supplement them for an individual solution. In this way, you not only receive secure, tailor-made and cost-effective IoT solutions for your company, but also a wide range of relevant services.
